  • Bifrost and VRay?

Anybody tested Bifrost in Maya 2019.2 with VRay yet?
    Is it supported?

You cant render it directly but it does output VDB and Alembic files.

Also note: that if your output is mesh based you can always convert it to a native maya mesh in the node editor using the BifrostGeoToMaya node. Then any renderer sees it, and renders it as normal geometry.

Bifrost is fabulous. We just need a few more tutorials

Are there parts of Maya Bifrost is replacing? Or is it bolted on and working with things like fluid containers?

Everything Bifrost related is new. Its not the bifrost you may know from the past. Its not only for fluids.
Its a visual programming graph. It does have DNA from Naiad and ICE. But its build from the ground up in the last 5 years.
Its also standalone and will work with Max in the future.

If someone likes to play with a VDB writing scene.
              I shared one here.

Small warining! If you sim all 200 frames you will create around 100gb of VDB data.
