  • Vray translucent bag material

    Hello everyone,

Back at it again. Just wanted to see if anyone had some suggestions on accomplishing this look. Trying to create a translucent bad material with stuff inside and I was phishing for some ideas.

Any thoughts and help is welcome. Thank you all on advance.

Set the refraction color to white, and amount to 1. This will make a completely transparent bag. Then gradually dial down the refraction glossiness until you get the desired look. You might also want to set the diffuse color to white and dial the refraction amount down to something like .9 instead of 1, this will give it that slightly milky look. Adjust to taste.

kissing in some SSS (either in a blend shader, or as a separate render and blending in comp) also helps for this type of shader. Clear plastic, ice, and what not.

You may also want to experiment with fog color for something like this. Be aware it's expensive to render though.

So you probably figured it out by now, but the best method is what beenyweenies suggested, except you also have to set IOR to 1 (Otherwise the plastic will look like solid glass) and add reflection as well, with the same glossiness as the refraction. that will give you that nice blurry milky transparency.
