  • Translucent skin material

    Hello everyone,

Was wondering if anyone had some suggestions or attempted a material like the one on the picture. Working on a creature that has this translucent skin, like the frog, with slight sss on it. Any recommendations and suggestions are very valuable.

Probably best bet to use vray material with glossy refraction. Or alternatively volume scatter material, but I didn't have much success with it when mixing with other mtls.

      Dmitry,

Sounds like a good idea. Thing I forgot to mention was that I am working with Vray Next and Maya 2019. I'm not sure if there is a vray scatter volume shader.

There is, if you go to create / vray / create from plugin / BRDFScatterVolume

Would be a good idea to try and recreate this effect, It would be interesting to see how people build such a shader.

                    Hi Luis.
I managed to get a frog model ready but then worked kicked in and that was the end of it.
Looking at it again I think there's no escaping the fact that some comp work in AE or Nuke will be needed to achieve the many qualities of this material.
