Export as .ma or .mb batch script

Hi folks.
Is anybody aware of a script that will export each group in a scene as a separate maya scene file?
I have a 100 or so items that need batch exporting as Maya scene files.

try File> game exporter... export multiple files
it works with Fbx only though.
