  • Stereo-Camera: How to render separate Left & Right View? (some issues)

    Hello,

I am trying to get separate Renders for left and right View of a Vray-Camera in Maya. How to do this?

    1. I added the attribute "vray steroscopic camera" to the "vray physical camera", but I only get a side-by-side view (useless for me, I want need views).

It's not possible to select in Render Settings as "renderable camera" separately as left and right.
Do I have to separate them?

    Other questions/issues:

    2. Anaglyph Preview in Viewport only works with a stereo-maya camera.
Is there a settings to get this for Vray? This is very useful for checking.

    3. I also tried it the other way round: I created a Stereo-Maya camera,
but this did not care about exposure from Vray physical camera (and also not about Film Back Offset).
(I added the vray physical camera attribute, it rendered out separate left and right, but no offset and no chance to adjust exposure, whichever iso or shutter I used)

    Thanks!

    Answers to your questions:

    1. You may choose which of the cameras to be rendered with the 'View' option in the Stereoscopic camera attribute - for your case 'Left' and 'Right'.
    2. You can use the 'Stereoscopic preview' in the VFB to preview the effect (button located in the bottom toolbar of the frame buffer).
    3. This seems to work normally. Make sure you add the 'Physical camera' attribute to both left and right cameras and assure you are in the correct view.

      Thanks

just regarding vray stereoscopic camera attribute:
I have seen, that I can choose Left or Right, but how could I get in one step Left & Right as full view rendered?

Does this need separate render layers? There is only the option side-by-side or top-bottom for "View > Both"
It means I don't get for renderable camera "Stereo-pair" in the render settings as a choice (I get it only for Maya stereo cameras)

Yes, you would need to add separate render layers, in the collection of which you would need to absolute override the 'vrayCameraStereoscopicView' (1=left, 2=right).
The easiest way to do that is to create a new layer, mark it as visible (eye icon) and right-click on the 'View' option in the 'Stereoscopic camera' attribute and afterward click 'Create absolute override for visible layer'. Make sure that you add all objects/lights/etc in the collection as well and set the renderable camera to the stereoscopic one. After you've set both layers for the left and right view, use Batch rendering.
