  • How to get fog itself as zDepth? (like if it was an object)

    Hello,
for compositing in a stereo workflow I need the zDepth of fog.
(but I son't render stereo out, just a single camera, all I need is the depth map of the fog)

When I render fog and enable zDpth, then the zDepth only contains geometry, but not the fog (like clouds e.g.)

Is there a solution to get onlya depth map for the fog?
    Any other advise here?

    Many thanks...

Currently, the Environment Fog is being blended into the Z-depth channel. You could remove the effect of the Fog by disabling the "Filtering" option of the Z-depth.

I don't know if it would be better, but you could use the Atmospheric Effects render element and blend the fog in some way in compositing.

      Hi Nikolay,
thanks. I want only the fog to be shown in the zdepth.
To get it separately with depth.
If you say I can remove it by disabling filtering, this is the opposite
I also use the atmospheric effects, but this isn‘t giving depth.
Inagine a scene with strong „god rays“. These rays of fog need to get a position in space...

I understand, but currently, it is not possible to have only the Z-depth information of the EnvironmentFog.
