Normal maps are unable to be rotated correctly in Maya because they are encoded with xyz vectors rather than rgb/greyscale data. If you rotate your normal map 45 degrees, it will interact with the lighting incorrectly. Substance Designer has a tool that allows you to rotate a texture map correctly using a bunch of sine/cosine math. Due to some workflow needs within Maya, I need to find a way to do it there rather than in substance.
Is there a way to do this same thing substance is doing in Maya Vray?
