  • Dome light texture visible in specular indirect light select aov

    Hello VRay Community,

I need some help. In a simple scene, I have one light select with one dome light (with texture) for my environnement.

I would to know if I can have the dome texture directly visible in the aov light select indirect specular or if I need to add a sphere with the same map with a vop (with just visible in reflection).

I post the light select indirect spec aov result that I have for the moment, I don't see the map of the dome light.

    Thank you very much,

    Edouard

Not directly, however, you can make the dome invisible, set the dome texture as a background environment override, add a Background pass and composite it yourself.

      Hello,

      Thank for your answer.
I tried your solution but my reflect aov is still black where is my reflect dome light area.
I will try a sphere with the map and a vop visible just in reflection.

      Thank you,

      Edouard

        Hi circus studio
You'll need to output the texture to a separate render element and use it as a background in compositing.
With the exception of the Full mode, the light select will only capture the lighting contribution. The Dome texture as visible to the camera will not be part of the light select, otherwise combining the light selects will give the wrong result.
You can add the same texture in the Background Texture environment override and output it to a Background render element, or alternatively add it to an ExtraTex render element in case you need a separate background.
Make sure the texture keeps its connection to the PlaceEnvTex placement node.
