  • Phoenix FD Features not supported on GPU?

I've been searching around for a clear answer on this, and all I can find is a post from 2017 that implied this was in the works back then - is it true that bubbles/foam is not supported on GPU? When I render with Vray Next GPU it throws a warning saying this is the case.

If so, that's kind of a major issue in my opinion. Liquids and other refractive surfaces render infinitely faster on GPU, so Phoenix FD is at its most useful when paired with GPU rendering. For many people, no bubbles/foam would be a non-starter.

Can confirm not currently supported. But there are workarounds you can use by converting the foam sim to nparticles and setting the particles to spheres. This will render on the gpu and get similar results but not an exact match.
I seem to remember seeing somewhere that the particle shader support on GPU is in development though so perhaps it might be ready in time for the VRay 5 release.
georgi.zhekov would probably know more about this though

Currently one of the modes is already there and it would even work with V-Ray Next - Fog mode of the Particle Shader. You need a recent V-Ray next stable and a Phoenix nightly.

The rest of the modes need much more changes to both V-Ray and Phoenix too, so they will come into V-Ray 5 step by step.
