  • ACES shaderball scene for Vray 5

    Hi

I updated my shaderball scene for ACES and Vray 5, all maps and HDRIs are converted to ACES. You will need to setup Maya to use ACES OCIO for this to work, I'm using ACES 1.2 here (and if you don't use ACES, there is a second download link below)

    ACES Shaderball here,

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HeN...ew?usp=sharing

The shaderball is sub-D and has good UVs, different lighting setups are included for look-dev. Enjoy!

If you don't use Vray 5 or ACES, here is the same scene for Vray Next and sRGB

Though I'd take a look, I get a missing OpenColorIO configuration file error
    C:/users/Muhammed/Documents/aces_1.2/config.ocio
Working space menu selection is not available ACES -ACEScg

      stezza Hello!
You will need to setup Maya with OCIO .. Download ACES 1.2 here
      https://github.com/colour-science/OpenColorIO-Configs

Then point Maya to use the config file

If you don't use ACES, I linked another download for typical sRGB scene file

I will update my post with this info

I found out that when i have the the OCIO config path set to the Aces 1.2 config file, theres quite a big lag when you select textures in the hypershade and for the attributes to show up. Same lag you get when creating your own rules. This is because the config files contain so many variants of rules.

Have you edited down your own?

Also maya 2022 default ocio config doesnt seem to contain 'Utility sRGB texture ' etc

Interesting, It doesn't lag for me at all
I guess the single threaded performance of my 5950x helps here, it is nearly double of your CPU

I'm using the native config.ocio file right now (needed for some testing)
But I created a simpler version with only the IDTs I need, you can download here

It will be very helpful in your case, backup your original config.ocio

                    Oh well thats good.

Im really interessted into Aces Workflow with 3dsMax and Vray. Not sure about the post in Photoshop + OpenColorIO.
Do you think ACES Workflow is for digital AND printmedia? I mean of after getting the render i have to apply icc and right Colorspace for printing but yeah a big topic.

This 3dsmax Thread with ACES is something i was searching for! Thanks for the work mate!

                    Regards,
                    Philipp
