  • Projection issue - Vray 5 | Maya 2020 -

    Hi,

I'm having a rather strange thing happening to the projection in my scene. I have an object with a Vray blend material that has a base material and a projected material on top. Also in the scene is a plane that has a standard vray material, with a diffuse, alpha, and self illumination image map.

What is happening is that it appears the plane (with the alpha material), is somehow occluding the projection behind it - the projection is not respecting the alpha in the plane.

It's kind of hard to describe, so I'm attaching images, and the test file.

    Thanks in advance!

    Matt

      Hi all,

      I figured it out:

In the projection node attributes, in Vray extra attributes, you have to de-select 'ignore occluded'

Which is counter-intuitive, because it should only apply to that object itself (the one receiving the projection), not other objects in the scene! It should be assumed the projection goes through other objects in the scene, and you should be able to control the occlusion on the object receiving the projection separately.

Thanks to all who took a look -

      Matt
