Cpu usage when rendering with rtx

I know this is a bit of a spurious question, but when im rendering with rtx, my 2080ti is at full load but windows task manager says the cpu is at 70% utilization....is that odd?

There are processes that the CPU executes even when rendering on GPU. Does this happen at the beginning of the rendering or all the way through?

ah sorry, must have been something funky going on with my maya..seems ok now..after the bake, its around 20-25%cpu usage all the way though which presumably is normal. Sorry to waste your time.
