  • light dome shadow control

    Hi..

so I'm doing some work that are lit with a very sunny clear sky hdri, everyone's happy with how that's looking but soft shadows have been requested.
how do I go about that? I've tried with two lightdomes, one for light and one with a different (evening) hdr for shadows, doesn't work. one knocks the other out or something.
I've tried blurring the sunny hdri but it's not looking great, just looks like the hard shadow's been blurred a bit, I want like occlusion style softness.
I found an OSL shader that someone had made that had blur controls for shadows but I think it was for Arnold and I'm not very familiar with OSL's.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    thanks /Sam

ok, just hacked past it by turning off receive shadows and multing in a vrayDirt on relevant geo and textures. cranked up the radius on the dirt to like 150-200.
still, if I could control it globally would have been easier.
