I need to create a god rays effect that will ender as fast as possible. In the docs i see two ways of doing this, one through scatter fog VRayScatterFog - V-Ray 5 for Maya - Chaos Help (chaosgroup.com) and the other through the environment fog. I have gotten environment fog to work, but would like to try the scatter fog as well to see which one will give me a better effect/speed. The issue i'm having is that the scatter fog does not do anything in my scene. Is this one specifically for sunlight only ? What is the correct setup for it assuming it's not just for the sunlight ?

Use the environment fog for God rays. it works great. It can also be used as a volume like a cube for an interior render.
The scattered fog needs to be inside a volume.Last edited by damaggio; 17-05-2021, 10:13 AM.

What damaggio said, use the environment fog.
There's a tutorial on our docs that explains the setup: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...od+Rays+Effect
Hope that helps.
