  • Could we control several textures at the same time using one vraytriplanar node?

    Hi,

Could we control several textures at the same time using one vraytriplanar node in Maya? Just like this one - https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...ng-coordinates

    Thank you.

Each texture can have its own place2DTexture node however in Vray5 there's the new UVWrandomizer than can further improve the final look of the shader, just the same as in 3Dmax seen in your link.

But I would like to use one vraytriplanrar node with one UVWrandomizer to control several textures for the projection mapping.
      Thank you for your reply.

Hi, we thought about making triplanar nodes connect to the UV coord instead of a placement node. This would allow you to use a single triplanar to work with multiple textures.

There were a few issues with this approach that we weren't really sure how to solve:
        1) One triplanar can actually use three texures, x, y, z, so the UV coord hack would only work for single textures
        2) There's a ton of connections that Maya does between the placement and texture:

What should we do with them? Disconnect them all? Leave them and ignore them?

        Any suggestions would be welcome.

-> Single Texture will be okay.

-> Do you think that we could use a vraytriplanar with a vrayuvwrandomizer? Something like below image?

not sure if this is the best idea But could you have an option where you could plug one triplanar (or any other similar nodes) into another triplanar node, so although you have to have a separate node for each texture, theres one 'master' triplanar that controls the others?

might be simpler to use an expression to control the values of multiple tri-planars at once.
