  • xgen patch bake process & vray

Hello, I have two questions concerning xgen patch bake for batch rendering:

1: is there a python command to trigger the xgen patch bake process for a scene?
    2. is there an option to store the patch bake abc file somewhere other than the project?
in Arnold there seems to be this option:
"When using 'export patches for batch rendering', XGen will create an .abc file that is stored in the same folder as the scene. 'Use Aux Render Patch' enables you to explicitly choose the file that you want to use, for example, a previously exported .abc file."

    Hello,

1 - you can use the AbcExport command. You can run it as "AbcExport -h" for a list of options, or look for the commands executed in the script editor when you export patches for batch render.

2 - we do not currently have an option to use a different abc file than the one XGen expects. Because of this you'll have to make sure you save the abc file with the name XGen expects, usually <scene name>__<collection name>.abc - that is the scene name, two underscores, then the collection name, in the same folder as your maya scene and xgen files.
