  • How can I move a scene from Mac to PC with Vray materials?

Hi, I have two computers at home, one mac, one pc, and I want to move my maya scene from my mac to my pc because I have more memory on my pc. The problem is none of my vray materials are saved with the file so when i load the scene on my PC, i can see its looking for the materials in my mac folders that don't exist on my pc. Is there a way to include the materials in the maya binary file or another way? A vrscan file wont work since they are not editable.

Just copy over your sourceimages folder to PC and re link if you need to.

whats the easiest way to relink them? I have materials on individual faces of large objects. does it have to be done in the attribute editor of each face or possibly the Hypershade editor?

You can use Windows > General Editors > File Path Editor in Maya to relink entire folders of textures etc, does that not work for what you're describing here?

There is also a function within Maya to relink textures. It's in one of the drop down menus. I used to use file texture manager but this is more like theax implimentation. When in front of pc I'll post it's location.

Lol ignore my post the person above just answered

Stezza is 100% right, the texture manager
is one of the greatest scripts ever created.

It works for basic relinking/repathing but I recently tried to use the copying features and it did not appear to function as expected. And, one of the huge advantages that the built in File Path Editor has over FTM is the ability to search by file name inside nested folders.
