EXR Metadata

How do i read the EXR Metadata from Vray? I know Vray is storing a lot of info in EXR files.

I think it depends on the software, in which you load the .exr (i.e. in Nuke, there's a metadata rollout in the Read node). I'm aware that it's possible to compile a standalone reader through the Open EXR itself. Otherwise, here's a thread with a similar question and sample software - you may give it a try.

Thanks for the info.
This could be a good addition to the VFB if you point the history to a directory of EXR files.
Or the Chaosplayer.

open in photoshop, go to file then file info near the bottom and its all there in raw data

There is no info like which maya file this EXR is coming from. No data about samples or camera.

You sure mate. When I look in the string it has all this info, let me paste tomorrow when in front of pc.

defo there for me in ps, maybe its because i use exrio plugin

Thanks for the info. But we cant use this plugin.
We cannot make sure this plugin is used for all our developers.

ah fair enough, photoshops native plugin for exr is absolutey uselss , and as u have experianced it doesnt support exr meta data

Adobe is consistently about five years behind the curve when it comes to the CG industry, it's shocking.

Totally agree. I have been using plugins for exr for over 10 years first proexr and now exrio. Iirc abobe outright think that multilayer Exrs are the incorrect use of exr and they are right. It's like they believe the earth is flat or somin
