  • chaos Cosmos problem

When I import cosmos assets or materials, everything works fine. IPR still truckin'. viewport functional as always. However the second I switch to texture mode in the viewport, maya crashes to desktop.
This is a relatively new issue. anyone else dealing with this and have a remedy?

Im using the latest version of both maya and vray

No, I’m not seeing this, does it happen every time, how about a new scene?

It was with a fresh scene. but it looks like a simple pc restart fixed the issue.

Ok, so its still happening. but it looks like it crashes when importing "chair lounge 009" specifically and then turning on texture mode. that's when it crashes.

even after deleting object from directory and re-downloading it.

I have the same thing. It happens with some of the objects. Still not able to figure out what the cause is.

              Hi there

Apologies for the delay. Do you (the users experiencing the crashes) perhaps have Arnold installed and loaded?
This sounds to me like the issue outlined here which isn't due to V-Ray. Could you try it out and tell me if it solves it for you? Thanks in advance!

Yes it was Arnold causing the crash when importing cosmos assets. I was also running into random crashes once I starting using maya 2024. But I found a work around for that by changing my viewport render engine to DirectX 11 instead of Open GL.
Does anyone know about this issue and know a way I can get back to Open GL without the constant crashes?
