  • Where is VRayNormalMap in V-Ray 5 for Maya?

In V-Ray 6 for Maya documentation there is a VRayNormalMap entry, but I cannot find it in V-Ray 5 for Maya. Is this node hidden and requires MEL to create it, or it is non-existence in V-Ray 5?

Coming from V-Ray for 3ds Max, I found several basic nodes like VRayNormalMap are missing in V-Ray for Maya, I'm wondering why. I understand it won't be 1 to 1, but still.

You doesn't need a VRayNormaMap, connect directly the file node to the bump entry of the material and especify the bump mode in the material

I think it's because the node is integrated (still exists in the back end) into the Bump and Normal mapping section map type of the VRayMtl (unlike 3ds Max).

        I had the same problem,
turns out, the node is accessible via the Node Editor Window.

Nice! I should've thought of using tab search! It is not listed in the browser tab though. Thank you!
