  • Maya in archviz - who is? - Create a community ?

    HI all,

As a studio we are using Maya with Vray for producing architectural visuals. We are one of the few using Maya.
How many other studios are using Maya for archviz on a serious scale ?

We are facing some challanges like: models which are not available in Maya format, usefull scripts that are not for Maya, lack of good scatter tools etc etc.
We did a lot of custom scripting to recreate some Max tools and workflow.

Is there any interest in creating some kind of community for people/studios that use Maya in archviz? For exchanging scripts, workflow, models, materials, idea's etc ? Since we are not competitors we better exchange knowledge.
Could be a forum, blog, whatsapp group.

Please let me know if you are interested!

    Hi Ivo,
we are also running Maya on the few Arch-Viz projects we do.
As for the scatter tool we are using iCube's VRayScatter, which does work nicely. You could also check out polygonflow, which is very nice but somewhat expensive. Finally, there is also EnVit, which currently only supports Arnold, though. Essentially this is only a front-end to creating bifrost graphs, but it does look very promising for now.
...Then, of course, there is always the hope that Chaos will eventually port their scatter tool to Maya as well. Would also come in handy for a lot of Film/TV-Work we are doing.

Same here, Maya and vray using Maya MASH. If there was a channel somewhere I'd join in for sure.

I use Maya and V-Ray for a ton of archviz. If I need truly accurate renderings I use Bella, but V-Ray is my workhorse; looks great and fast.
