  • Viewport in Maya 2024

    Hi all

Some of you might have noticed that V-Ray materials appear brighter in the viewport of Maya 2024. This is due to a change of the default lighting in Maya 2024. Autodesk has made this change in order to reach parity with PBR shading models and lighting in different renderers and to allow a better transition to an image based lighting by default and a hydra based viewport. Chaos and Autodesk are looking at ways to work with this change.

Apologies if this has caused any inconvenience.

I was wondering if it was just me. Now I know why that is happening.

It doesn't seem to affect the actual rendering process though, which is good.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Note that you can bring back the old behaviour quite easily, by setting the Default light intensity to 1.0 in the Viewport 2.0 settings:
