I might have overlooked the option, but I looked in all the usual places - is there any easy way to disable (or toggle) the camera's image plane from rendering?

Disable Camera Image Plane from rendering?

There's no checkbox for that, I'm afraid, however, a user posted a simple pre and post-render script that disables/reenables the image plane in this thread.

I've seen people wondering about this in the Autodesk Maya forum, Vlado mentioned "a V-Ray attribute can be added to the image plane to skip it for rendering" but that was 2015, maybe a checkbox could be added if people really wanna have this feature.

seandunderdale If you know of a checkbox, by all means. Pre/Post render approach works but isn't foolproof. I can imagine people thinking its a solution until they look at their renders and find that the imagePlane name doesn't match.

I still think I'm misunderstanding the question....but turn off camera image planes being visible in camera...you tick this box. There isnt a live toggle as far as I know to use in RT, but this will means your image plane is visible in viewport, but never renders....which I THINK was the request.

seandunderdale Coincidentally, someone on the Autodesk forums randomly replied to a post I started a few months ago. Looks like the option has been added! Render>Overrides>Camera rollout
Thanks for chiming in!
