  • Are we getting Vray nodes in LookdevX????

I'm seeing some vray nodes in the LKDX? But I rather ask so I do not get too excited. Can someone share why I'm seeing these 2 nodes here?
Is Chaos doing what I think they are doing?

    Thanks

    Hi there!

MaterialX and LookDevX are in our priority list for our next releases, so if you think we're on the road to adding support for it, then yes, you would be correct.

Nice to hear! if there is a beta going on, I would be happy to participate btw.

I was about to ask the same question. If there is a beta I would also be happy to participate.
My hope is this will fill some areas that are lacking in the current hypershade workflow

Is there an ETA for this?
Both USD and materialX are the industry standard, and pretty much all the other rendering engines support them.

We are working on it and we hope you get to see it very soon.

Just for clarity's sake, may I ask what the use case for using V-Ray nodes in LookDevX is for you?

For us, LookdevX will be the replacement for the old buggy/slow Hypershade

You make compounds easily and share them with team members (Basically the same as creating OTLs in H)
On complex shading networks, you can leave notes to team members and organize your networks, with backdrops and sticky notes.
LookdevX is much nicer and eventually will get better and better.
                LookdevX + Bifrost

This is just to name a few things that we can see using.
