  • Toon line render RGB and alpha

    Hi folks.
Is it possible to render out a white RGB toon line but with everything else as alpha.?
So just line colour and transparency.

    Thanks

Not sure if I understood. Wouldn't that just be the Toon RE? Setting a shader override with a transparent VRayMtl and adding a VRayToon should also work.

So in this image we have a cube with opacity set to 0 which gives the effect required but we can see through the cube which is not what we want.
The second cube with full opacity give us the correct line style but introduces full opacity of the material.

In the past we have simply set the toon line to screen so just using the black and white but is there a way to get option 2 line with option 1 opacity without having to set a layer mode to screen in PS or AE?

If I recall correctly there is no way to do that out of the box in a single pass. Seems like there should be.

Wouldn't setting the object as a Matte (VRayOverrideMtl) work?

You're absolutely right that does work. Cheers!
