  • VRay Standalone cmd

OK I use to use this all the time but havent for a couple of years.
Once Standalone is open I type
    vray -sceneFile="F:/Projects/2024/Torpedo/VRay/scenefile.vrscene"
    But I get an error:
vray' is not recognized as an internal or external command

even just typing -help gives the same error.

Cant work out what has changed..

Hi, it seems like you have not started V-Ray Standalone in the cmd correctly. How do you do that? One quick way is to open your bin folder and then type in the windows explorer's address bar "cmd".
This way you will be in the right directory and won't have to navigate in command prompt to it. There are two "bin" directories now. The correct one is C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya 2024 for x64\maya_vray\bin. So you have to open maya_vray, not vray folder.
You could also type cd="C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya 2024 for x64\maya_vray\bin" after opening command prompt.
