  • VRay for Maya 2019 vs Maya 2024

We had to re render an old scene which was created in Maya 2019 VRay 1.1 (on left)
Then re opened the scene in Maya 2024 latest build, and we cant get a match at all would this be expected with such development time between builds?

What is also interesting is the we still had the vrscene created in 2019 and if I render this in the standalone it renders as expected like left image. But from the VFB we get the right image. must be the ocio color management or something.

The ACES color management definitely contributes a lot to the final look of an image. I am sorry but which versions exactly do you compare? You mention V-Ray 1.1, is this correct?
When we compare two major versions, for example VRay 5 against V-Ray 6 it is considered expected that there will be differences. There isn't much to be said without carefully reviewing the scene.

Cant be sure which version of VRay that was used but it must have been 1.1 as this was released in July 2019 and the rendering was done in October same year.
The only other way to match it is to install Maya 2019 but it's no longer available from the Autodesk account.
Image on the right is the latest VRay for maya build.
I tried to open the vrscene in a text editor but 8GB is too big, thought there might be a vray version listed in the header...
