  • Vray layered texture and displacement

    So, I see some threads about this and apparently it should work, but I am unable to connect a Vray Layered Texture to the displacement slot of a shader. Dragging it to the slot generates a displacement node to the SG, but the layered texture is not connected. Is this expected?

    If this doesn't work, what's the best workflow for connecting a layered texture or shader to displacement? I really don't want to have to use something as arcane as a multiply divide. I'm going to be animating this as well as switching out inputs in the future, so would like something that's visible and intuitive. The Vray layered texture allows for naming inputs clearly, which is why that would be my preferred approach.

    Ugh, never mind. I see that the layered texture has no alpha output (why is that?), but plugging a color channel to the displacement node has the desired effect.
