  • projector light or gobo

    Hello Vrayers!

Any ideas on the best workflow to create a projector type light? (ie: projecting fake caustics on an underwater scene)

    Thanks
    Bryan

You can go to Create > V-Ray > Create light from V-Ray plugin and then choose either LightSpotMax or LightDirectMax; these are equivalents to the 3ds Max spot and direct lights and you can attach projector maps to them. They might be a little difficult to control in the Maya viewport though, as they don't have a native Maya wrapper.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Hi Vlado, I was trying something like this. I couldn't get any sort of light to come out of either LightSpotMax or LightDirectMax, using nightly 03/30. I was able to get something working using a Maya spot light and a simple texture as a gobo, though. Thanks,

      Jens

Yes, this works in the nightly builds.

like jensl, i couldn t get any light out of LightSpotMax or LightDirectMax..

what i want to simulate, is to beam an image on mirrors and look at the light bouncing on the ground..

no clue if vray do that, any idea how to do ?
