  • Could fluid fx volumes be rendered in Vray?

I remember seeing a picture of volumetric renders here.

    http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150S...ronmentfog.htm

    Is this maya fluid fx?

Nope; this was done in 3ds Max.

Oh ok, still, might there be a way to get the volumetric renderer in Vray, to read the voxel data from a fluid box in Maya?

Seems like the pieces are there for a possible way to have Vray read the data and render it out the same way we are seeing it done in max.

I mean, I understand the apps are different but this example in particular...

... looks like its reading a 3d procedural to cut out the volumetric, and in general the fluid sim box is a 3d grid for placing pixels, like a 3d procedural, and could drive the volumetric's render shape in a similar manner.

      Of course, I assume much.

It can certainly be done, but it will require some way to present the fluid data as a 3d texture inside of 3ds Max - most likely by writing a plugin that does it.
