  • .vrscene file

can the .vrscene format be used to render across machines with different installs of vray(vray for maya, vray for max, etc.), as long as the build is current? Is our license basically an extended license of the vraystandalone? If this is true then is there a way to utilize this functionality to render on different render services that arent specifically configured for a specific host platform?

    thanks!!

To render a .vrscene file, you need V-Ray Standalone and a license for it; currently V-Ray for 3ds Max does not include either of these.

Sof if vray for MAX doesnt, does Vray for Maya allow rendering via the standalone? I see that there is a standalone "shell". If we can, do you recommend a workspace setup, or does it take all of the paths and file locations from the maya file?
I would love to only rely on maya as a front end for asset creation!

      thanks,

The exporter takes the paths from the Maya file, yes. You can also specify alternative locations for render assets using the "VRAY_ASSETS_PATH" environment variable.
