  • Export Coverage channel from Vray for Maya?

Is there any way to get a coverage channel out of Vray in Maya? Or out of Maya at all?

I'm used to being able to set this in the EXR output in 3dsmax but Maya seems to have no such option.

    Any help gratefully received...

V-Ray collects this information, so it would be a matter of writing it to the EXR file. I'll make a note to add a render element for this.

Out of curiosity, how would you use the resulting coverage element?

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Shouldn't this let you clean up edges from Z-depth, material ID channels etc by including the amount a given object contributes to a pixel? We were going to use this to clean up overlapping edges when adding depth of field in post, as for this project we haven't time to render it in Vray.

      Thanks Vlado,

I thought selecting filtering would've solved this in the depth channel?

I assume he's using it for the Render IDs,

            so there's no matting issues..
