I have a mesh that I have converted to vrmesh proxy. normally when I do this the maya scene gets exponentially smaller, however in the case of one of my meshes this is not happening. It is helpfull to make vrmesh because it renders faster and also the scene size gets smaller which helps with rendering on the network.
for example
I have a mesh that has 600,000 tri faces, my .mb file size is 18MB when I convert to a vrmesh the scene size lowers to only 13KB and the vrmesh file exported is 27MB. so there is a loss of file size in the maya scene but the vrmesh still has the file size and the highpoly count for rendering.
I have ANOTHER mesh that has 1,200,000 tri faces. the .mb file size is 115MB. when I convert to a vmesh the maya scene still stays 115MB as well as it creates an additional 40MB vrmesh file. so its odd that in this second case my maya scene did not shrink in size?
any clue why this happened?
