  • Round edges on proxies?

    Hey ho,

i just exported an object with "round edges" as a proxy and after that vray renders without round edges. I think it is the same as with displacement and stuff...would it be possible to "bake" such information before exporting the proxy?

The round edges just modifies the shading normals, just like bump or normal mapping. It doesn't generate any geometry we could bake.

I know what it does, but why doesn't it work on proxies then?!?

Well, I haven't written the round edges stuff myself, but looking at the code, it needs all neighboring faces of a particular face to decide how to round the edges. This may not be available in the case of the proxy, as it breaks up the mesh in several voxels, thereby disconnecting otherwise connected faces.
