  • Vray render ID channel changes with multichannel EXR

I'm curious to know why the colours change when the render ID channel is written to a multi-channel EXR?

IT seems in the V-Ray framebuffer every object has it's own colour and all is good but when I open the multi-channel EXR, the colours are all different and objects are using the same colours?

    Maya 2011x64 + V-Ray SP1.

I will report that to the developers so they can fix it.
    Thank you for the feedback.

This is not a bug so there is really nothing to fix. The render ID channel is an integer channel, not a color channel. The V-Ray frame buffer just uses some colors to represent the different integer numbers. From then on, it depends on which program you are using to view the channel and how it interprets the integer numbers.

Ah, okay - I'm using proEXR with Photoshop so of course it would not be able to interpret this channel with integer numbers and hence why I'm treating it for its colour channels. THanks for taking the time to explain it Vlado.
