Does color mapping affect irradiance mapping quality?

Hi, I've got a scene whereby if I'm using Reinhard tonemapper the irradiance mapping is pretty smooth however when I switch to Exponential there always appears one big bright splotch in the irradiance mapping solution.

Just wondering if the tonemapper really does affect the irradiance quality?

Yes, it does; perhaps more than it should - maybe we need to revisit this at some point. In any case, you can calculate the map with Reinhard and switch to exponential for the final rendering.
