  • DO the new Substance procedurals work in Vray

I'm wondering if these new textures will render in Vray ? Obviously they dont work in Mental Ray ( what does? ) but they look like an incredible tool so if anyone has 2011.5 installed if they could try and it out and let me know that would be great.

If its not working if they developers could let us know if it is on their list or not that would also be good.

    Thanks for reading

    Will.

They don't work currently. We can make them work by baking them out internally, and it is on our list.

They work if baked or you can use the player from allegorythmic and export your texture.

Talking about this 2011.5 version, It is loosing all the connection for Vray. We can't even installed it. Any plan to have Vray to work with it?

      Thanks.

There is a thread on CGTalk how to get it to work, can't remember the exact link though. Looks like we will need to package a separate installer for this, even though the plugins all work fine. (Still can't figure out why Autodesk decided to rename all the installation folders...)

        Best regards,

            Thanks Vlado.
I saw the thread on cgtalk. I have also ask Autodesk if they plan to change it back to a normal folder structure.

              If I understand this right:

The whole procedural nature of Substances is only to procedurally GENERATE textures that will eventually tile when rendered....in other words its just a modern texture generator to assist you when "painting" ?
Why integrate it instead of doing this in PhotoShop or export from the Substance Designer (at least $999 !?@>!@) or Substance Player ?
Max texture size coming from Substances is 2000x2000 pixels, so how do you decide what resolution will be used by VRay if you convert at rendertime ?
