  • File Name Prefix Layer Override not allowed?

    Hi,

I tried to create a Layer Override for the File Name Prefix to have descriptive names for each of the render layers for batch render. But there is no this option as I right-mouse-click on it?
Is this an intended behavior or a bug?

    Thanks.
    always curious...

Hi Jason, I'm not sure about a layer-override but I always use the name tokens to embed the layer name in my file names. For example I would specify %s/%s_%l/%s_%l Then if I render with -rd x:\david\renders I get x:\david\renders\myScene\myScene_myRenderLayer\myS cene_myRenderLayer.001.exr

Thanks for the tip, David. I'll try these tokens.

this usually works for any attributes i can't set layer overrides for via the normal right-click method:

while your current render layer is active, try this: "editRenderLayerAdjustment vraySettings.fileNamePrefix"

i haven't done a test render, but the file name updates when you switch between render layers in the editor or globals window.

<Version> name token doesn't work in vray?

I don't think so. What does it do?

            Best regards,
            Vlado

It queries the Version Label attribute from the Maya renderSettings and uses this in the filename prefix.

(We use a versioning based on the scene name btw. This way you always know where your images come from.)
