    When rendering displacement in maya is there a way to not have normal maps generated automatically? In the 3ds version I have read about an option called "Faceted" on the shaders that can turn it off but i don't see that check box in the vray for maya shaders.

    You can do a similar shader using the vrayGNormalWorld output of the samplerInfo texture in newer builds... will see if I keep the scene around somewhere.

        Here you go. If you look closely, you will see the facets of the individual sub-triangles.
