  • third rotation axis on reflection slot

I have hdri mapped in the reflection slot in renderglobals. I'm trying to move the hdri so that the sun to fits my background lighting. But since I can only rotate it in two axis, It makes it impossible for me to place the sun where it should be. (without moving it in in photoshop in the hdri image itself.)

Is it possible to do this somehow? Or even better, can we get a third axis on the placement node?

    +1 for this
XYZ Rotation and "Rotation Order" on Vray Env Placement would be awesome....why is this implemented the way it is?

          I would also like translation.

Since the dome light and the environments are infinitely far away, translation makes no sense.

The two rotation parameters are enough to get practically any orientation of the texture, perhaps I could make a simple script for it...

            Best regards,

Of course you CAN reach any rotation position. But when you sit next to the photographer who says: "Why don't you just rotate it THAT way?" you really want a third axis there

                Hi Vlado,
Then could we have the Tex adaptive option in the light shader?
Most of the time when using an Hdr image, the center of the image is not the center of the object, because it wasn't possible to get the camera at the right position. This option is what makes the dome light so good with hdri.

                Thanks,

This is very complicated to do for meshes of arbitrary shapes. It might be easier if we just add an option to the dome light to produce a finite perfect (hemi)sphere.

                    That would be perfect.
