  • PaintFX + VrayMtl

    Hey,
Is it possible to add the VrayMtl or Vray2SidedMtl to PaintFX objects or do I have to convert them to geometry?

Convert them to Geo. Vray will do that anyway before rendering, i think.

Nope, it won't - they will be rendered as lines, not as regular triangles.

Whoops, okay. Sorry. But then it's not possible to use other shaders than the built-in, right?

Not right now unfortunately, although it is on the "to do" list.

great to hear vlado, i think paintfx material support will be a big help to a lot of cg artists.
paintfx is excellent for quick landscape details.

Jepp, especially in the traditionally vray clientgroup of small/midsize shops it would be really appreciated, i think.

Agreed. I'm using them often. Extended shader support would be very useful.

For static things (and to a limited extent animation) converting to polys, assigning shaders and converting to vray mesh (proxy) seems to be quite an efficient way to build a detailed landscape. I say limited animation due to the huge files it creates. Being able to keep as strokes and assign shaders would be great.
