  • 2.0 beta test - CPU/GPU works simultaneously ?

    Hi,

at the RT Engine tab I can switch between CPU or OpenCL (single kernel) / GPU.

But can I use both systems together ?
What I mean is ...... a combination of CPU/GPU does work simultaneously as well ?
    Or just simple impossible ?

    thx

    No possible at the moment.
Maybe sometime in the future we will support such combination, only time will tell

p.s. There is a RT sub-forum, please post in it, when you have some RT problems/questions.

You can actually do it by creating a system environment variable called "VRAY_OPENCL_MIXED_MODE" with a value of "1" (without the quotes). However this may produce odd results if you use features that are supported on the CPU but not on the GPU. For V-Ray RT for 3ds Max, when we translate the scene for the GPU, we try to specifically disable such features so that the CPU render can match the GPU one, but for the moment we don't do this for V-Ray RT for Maya.

        Best regards,
