  • tiled textures failed to load? (worked in beta)

(edit: same textures and scene works in Maya 2011 x64 with VRay 2.004, but not in Maya 2012 x64)

    Hi,

I have a scene with tiled textures generated from Mudbox and named as tileID_u1_v1, tileID_u1_v2, tileID_u2_v1, and tileID_u2_v2. (all tif files)

When I tried to load the these textures in Maya 2012 with tileID<UVTILE>.tif, I kept getting error messages like these below.

// Warning: Bitmap file "textures/Mudbox_to_PS/tileID_u1_v2.tif" failed to load: [LoadImageFile] Failed to open file: no such file

The render is completely black. I am pretty sure it worked before when I tried the same workflow during beta test of VRay 2.0. Has something changed for loading tiled UV textures?

system: I am on Windows 7 with Maya 2012 x64 and VRay 2.004 (the official build).

Does it work if you specify the absolute path to the texture, rather than a relative one?

    Best regards,

      Hi, Vlado,

I did try to render it with the file path specified as pathbalabala/textureName_u1_v1.tif (or any one of the tiled UV textures), and the scene renders just fine. If this is what you mean by using the absolute path to the texture. But, I have no clue how to use four absolute paths the same time to specify all my tiled UV textures.

I meant something slightly different: leave the <UVTILE> tag, but add the full path to the texture, i.e. not "textures/Mudbox_to_PS/tileID<UVTILEM>.tif", but "c:/path/to/my/textures/Mudbox_to_PS/tileID<UVTILE>.tif"

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Yes, it just tried it with absolute path and it renders normally. The path will somehow being automatically changed back to a relative path itself after the render is done, and after that even the path is relative, the scene renders just fine. Also, if I saved scene with the path being automatically changed to the relative one, the scene will render just fine. Weird?

Yep, in any case this should be fixed for the latest nightly builds.
