  • Alpha in refractions?

    hi,
i've an object which has a Vray material applied to it. the material has refraction happening in it.
i've turned on affect channels to "all channels" but i still think i'm getting an incorrect alpha.
I'm attaching an rgb & aplha image of the render.
Am I missing some step or doing something wrong?

    Alpha looks correct.
You have base object and glass in top of it. So there isn`t much transparent parts in your object.

      Hi LarsSonparsson,

thanks for the reply, i just want to make sure we are on the same page.
i'm concerned about the areas i've marked in the attached alpha image.
the whole geometry is one piece.

yes, I agree that it looks quite odd, but at the same time it matches the beauty pass. Same parts that refracts environment red has hole in alpha. Isn't that the way how it should be?

To get the alpaha you're looking for change the "affect Channels" to Color only (does Vray for Maya have this option).
          www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

i still wasn't sure if i was getting the correct alpha. so I just put a plane behind the object so now my alpha would
have to be solid right?. but i'm still getting a faint transparent edge on parts of the refractive object. I've attached images
            of the rgb & alpha
dlparisi, using affect only the colour channel won't help be composite my elements.
