If I have a object set up for rendering & on "say" 10 render layers I have the product in different angles with different lighting on each render layer, Is there a way to do render elements for just that render layer? Because I want individual light contribution maps based on render layers not the entire scene . Is that possible? as it currently seems to be global

    Hi Chris,

you can use layer overwrite on any Render elements. If you select 1 RE you can add the override on the "enable" option. You can use the spreadsheet window to control it over several RE. (and if you use Maya 2012 with the last Stable, there are now icons in front of the RE in the render settings to enable/disable them (create automatically an override).
