  • hair shader: Getting good looking hair

    Hey,

I've been testing the hair shader, and I'm not getting results I would expect.

The specular is running vertically, when I would expect it to run horizontally.

I'm trying to get something like this:

Is there a way to adjust this?

BTW: Does the shader support scalp color/tip/base maps?

Totally under stand this is all still in beta, It would just make our pipeline simpler if we can do all our hair/fur renders in vray (currently deffering to renderman)

You'll have to model the shape of the hair to have the same curvature as it does in the photo to get it to run horizontally - It's all dependant on the shape of the light that the hair is reflecting, and the parts of the hair that are angled towards the light correctly.

Cheers jo, that makes sense :P

Any ideas about tip/base/over all color maps?

I haven't dug into it yet unfortunately - It was announced a day after I'd finished a project with cg foxes so it would have been handy - not sure when I'll get around to fur again tbh :/
