Environment variables

I'm looking for a way to set Environment variables without accessing to
system settings( i'm currently using university computers and I can't access with administrator priviliges). Is it possible? In particular i need the VRAY_ASSETS_PATH variable or some other method to manage textures...

Yes, open a command prompt, set the variable there, and then run Maya directly from that command prompt.
