  • Maya Fluid

    Hi.
Is there a way to optimise a render of Maya fluid. Does anyone has any tips?

I currently tried the same scene with Mental Ray and it takes 20 seconds a frame, and with vray 1minute and 20 seconds.
I don't have any GI as that was making my rendering time way too long.

    Thanks,

    Yannick

Sometimes fluids don't need high sample settings, that is one area where you can cheat.

The default step size that V-Ray uses for the volume is way too small; add the extra V-Ray attributes to the fluid shape and increase the step size.

Also, installing the Phoenix FD beta will allow V-Ray for Maya to use automatically the Phoenix FD shaders to render Maya fluids, and the Phoenix shaders are quite a bit faster.

      Best regards,
      Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Thanks Vlado, I will give the step size a try.
I am looking into getting Phoenix, i was invited to the beta but our IT department is too busy to install it.

        Thanks,
