Hey there,
Not sure if anything like this exists yet - I did a search and couldn't find anything...
I have a large library of VRay materials saved and created from 3ds max, but I'm more frequently using Maya for projects now and it's becoming difficult to manage my materials.
I know there's a way to export a VRay material from 3ds max to Maya via a .vrscene file, but this becomes very cumbersome when dealing with large numbers of materials.
So I think it'd be a great idea if there was a Universal VRay material file format that we could save and open regardless of the 3d software being used.
Ideally the file (lets say .vrmtl) would be a plain text file like an XML or something. And all that would be needed on the 3d package side would be some sort of reader/writer plugin
That way we could keep our VRay material libraries software independent.
Good idea? Stupid? Or does something already exists that makes this unnecessary?
Thanks! Keep up the great work!
