  • default Maya scene unit size and VRay default unit size

    Hi:

I've talked to Autodesk support and their default scale for all tools to work without scale compensation is "cm". Their internals settings then treat each unit as a meter. Gravity is then 9.8 and so on. A 184cm man would be 1.84 units tall.

Something small like a fish in a tank might then be 0.05 units long.

    1. Is VRay set up to deal with Maya's default cm scale in terms of falls off working correctly and so on?

    2. If no, is there a VRay global to compensate?

    Yes.

There is no need for that, although a way to override the Maya unit scale has been requested a number of times.

    Best regards,
